I wanted to invigorate an older PC. It would only accept PCI cards, not PCIe. This fit the bill perfectly. I'm not especially tech oriented and even for me installation was relatively easy and straight forward. This thing is able to drive two screens, you can have your desktop on one and watch video on the other. The power supply requirement was 300w BTW. So far it seems like a good deal to me.

Let's get something straight right away. This is a 32 bit PCI bus video card. While this 610 is based a newer GPU design, It is not a gaming card! That said it will do some light gaming at medium to low settings. Where this card excels is in the handling of media. The nVidia 610 even on a PCI bus simply tears through HD content without even the slightest stutter. Case in point. A good friend of mine recently upgraded to Win7, bought a new 27" Monitor and installed an ATSC tuner in his PC as he wanted to watch HD content and use Windows MC. Problem was his PC was an anemic 2007 2.8GHz P4 Prescott powered PC. It could not playback any HD content nor could the intel IGP drive his new monitor. The good news was that Prescott class CPUs have SSE3, so the playback of HD was posssible, but efforts at playback were stymied by the horrible intel graphics. A lack of any type of "PCI Express" slot limited our upgrade options. So we purchased this card on special for $43 a few weeks ago. Once installed along with a 2GB memory upgrade, his PC can now playback Full HD (that's 1920 x 1080) on his 27" monitor. Just to push our luck; We hooked up his old 1280 x 1024 LCD as a second monitor, This video card was more than capable of driving both. He is quite happy,It should be noted that the age of the CPU and the Chipset become very negative factors whenever we tried to open other applications while pushing HD content or too much intricate flash based web content.Computer upgrades requier some research and planning.Putting this card into any system not using DDR memory or a CPU without SSE3 (Streaming SIMD Extensions). Would most likely be a waste of time and money.Another cool factor is that, should one be inclined to do so several of these PCI bus video cards can be used together for a multiple monitor setup.(less expensive ATX motherboards can have up to 4 PCI slots)

Put this video card in a P4msd-800d2 machine (M.Bd. Dual Pentium proc./cd/dvd(New/sata HD) connected to a Vizio Monitor.Sometimes card would see the HDMI out put but most of the time defaulted to DVI output even though was connected to HDMI via HDMI cable, and it would default to the Native PC setting 1024x768 which will not do. You can tell there is Nvidia Driver problems as they released driver updates back to back but even the newest MAr. 25, 2013 does not work correctly. Good idea, a HDMI PCI card for older machines but Nvidia Drivers..well if your a computer tech u know the story..:) (Did this on a clean install no other apps or programs) The built in MB video works fine with no conflicts at 1360x768..PS/researched and windows 7 has some problems with this device.
