Pretty Impressive
By Banon
So I had a Radeon 6950 go kaput on me and decided to jump to a less power hungry (and thus cooler) option. I also wanted a quiet option that would still perform respectably on current and older games. I was considering the GTX 660, but I decided to go for a less expensive option this time, considering I was already eating money on the 6950. The GTX 650 ti is just a pared down 660 anyways. I should note that I have no particular loyalty to ATI or NVidia cards, but I have to say I was never terribly impressed with the 6950 for what I paid for it.I'd never tried an MSI VGA before, but some of the features drew me to this one:-This thing basically spins its fan in reverse real quick at startup to shake off any dust before spinning it in the pull direction.-I like the 3 year warranty.-The solid overclock on this model.-The cooling solution is kinda gnarly looking, but is supposed to be pretty effective.Installation was painless, but I had drivers at the ready. The first thing I noticed was the jaw dropping idle temps ranging from 25-30C. Most people don't care about idle temps, but I run two 24" monitors in an extended desktop and was used to the 6950 idling at 60C+ in a well-ventilated case. So this thing uses less power (only one 6-pin PCIE required), cut my temps by more than half, and performs nearly as well? I mean I knew I was dropping from a 200W TDP down to a 110W TDP so it shouldn't be TOO surprising, but I'm still very happy. I've yet to see the fan jump over 30%, though I haven't thrown much at it yet. For a price that was a little over half what I paid for the old card, I'm really impressed with this newer chip from NVidia.I ran Shogun 2 for a bit and didn't check FPS or anything, but I saw no slowdown or difference at the same settings I was used to running at with my 6950. It's quiet, too; I've shut everything else off except for the CPU and rear exhaust (which run at low Rs) using my fan controller, and I can't really hear the thing while holding my ear up to the front of the case. I cranked it up to 50% manually and it became an appreciable hum, but definitely not the annoying high-pitched "VVVVVSSHHHHH" noise that many coolers make. Pleasing. As for the MSI build quality--it seems pretty sturdy and I actually kind of like the vicious utilitarian look of the heat sink. I also prefer the horizontal arrangement of the two DVI ports, as opposed to "stacked." This is purely because it's MUCH easier for me to use my fingers as guides to hook up without being able to see behind my desk. All in all I'm really happy with the card and think it was well worth the money for it's performance.

Most bang for your buck!
By Michael
I've been a PC gamer all my life, I've usually ponied up the money for the high end models. High end models are great, but they're expensive, have heat issues, and steep power supply requirements. If none of those issues are a problem for you and you have $400 to spend, by all means, get a GTX 660 or 670. If you're on a budget with a mid-range PC, keep reading. For the money, this is an excellent video card. Is it as good as a $300 - $400 model? of course not. Does it let you play all of today's current PC games on medium settings? Absolutely! You get to play today's games for half and almost a third the price of the high end models.Even though this model is inexpensive, you can tell just by holding it, its a quality made video card. The heat sink is big and beautiful and keeps things running COOL. The temperature on the card when I'm browsing the net or watching movies is only 28 Celsius. Under load while playing Black Ops 2, Hitman Absolution, and WoW MoP, the temp is only 40 Celsius. One note here, the default settings for MSI's Afterburner program sets the fan to auto. From my personal experience, I find the fan's auto setting runs the temps higher than I prefer. I like to set the fan speed at half speed at all times. Even having done this the fan is very quiet, I can't hear it over my case fans.Another cool built in feature is this card spins the fan backwards for 30 seconds when you start your PC, then forwards again to knock the dust off of the fan. How effective is it? I'll find out soon because my PC gets pretty dusty inside in just a few months. Regardless, I'll still clean out the inside of my PC like I always do.Just a couple more things, this card only uses one 6 pin PS connector and requires a minimum of 400 watt PS. It has 2 DVI connectors and 1 mini-HDMI connecter, adapters are included. This model doesn't however come with a free copy of Assassins Creed 3. If that's important to you, look at the other 650 Ti's for this.Overall, I recommend this card to anyone on a budget that's not worried about playing games on their Max settings.

Best bang for the buck out there right now
By Dave
This video card is possibly the best value ever. It is amazing how the speed of graphics has advanced in such a short time! I upgraded to this GTX 650 Ti from a "regular" non-Ti MSI GTX 650, and wow -- what a huge, noticeable difference. For $5-$10 more, the Ti version is worth it and then some. The GTX 650 was decent, but not for heavy 3D gaming, while the GTX 650 Ti can completely hold its own in games. In 3DMark11 benchmarks, the GTX 650 got P3346. Compared to the GTX 650 Ti, which jumped all the way up to P5092, at stock settings; or with a slight overclock using MSI Afterburner, P5296. Combined with my Core i5-2500K processor, this GTX 650 Ti is a perfect setup for playing my Flight Simulator game. Anyhow, if you're in the market for a mainstream PC graphics card right now, any of the GTX 650 Ti models are pretty hard to beat. I'm personally partial to this MSI model, mainly because it includes a mini-HDMI adapter, whereas the EVGA models do not (i.e saves you $10). Also, this MSI "Performance Edition" version has an unlocked voltage control, meaning overclocking is easier, and the cooling is quiet and effective.
