I wanted to hook up my Dell computer to my television in order to stream the MetPlayer. The computer only has USB ports and Dell told me that there was no way I could stream HDMI through a USB port. StarTech proved them wrong. I can watch operas on my Sony television using the adapter for my computer from a USB port to the HDMI cable.

We got this to convert the USB cable from our computer to an HDMI cable for the TV so we could see movies and things on the computer in the livingroom. It was recomended to us by an expert and he was right. It is very small, about the size of a cigarette pack or smaller and weighs just about nothing. Works perfectly as intended.

I ordered one and it worked only one day then my Window 7 PC will not recognized this device.I went through with Star Tech for 2 hrs and finally they asked me to return because they think it was a defect one.I returned and got a new one and this time it worked for 2 weeks then my PC will not recognized this again.During this 2 weeks I have constantly to worry about if this device will work. Finally it does not work and I don't want to suffer this pain and return it.This is my conclusions:1. The device does work beautifully. It mirrors my PC to my HDTV nicely. (reason I give it 2 stars)2. The device generates too much heat this may damage the device.3. It is not a working friendly USB device since the PC is constantly looking the drive and port specially when the PC is waked from the sleep mode.4. I think this is a very simple technology but don't know why it takes so much trouble for me to make it works.
