Good card for an HTPC, seriously spoiled by “what were they thinking” port type and placement choices.
By Thom Harris
It works as advertised. I got it because it’s silent, a good choice for my home theater PC. Its large heat sink nicely cools the card without a fan. However, it does take up two PC expansion slot spaces, as shown in the photos. I have it driving a VGA PC display via the supplied adapter on one of its DVI ports. Also, it drives an HDTV via its HDMI port, and a front projector via its other DVI port. But, only two of the three displays can be driven simultaneously. DVI and HDMI connected HDCP-compliant displays are supported as expected for playing bluray discs, but I haven’t tried any 3D blyrays. Digital multichannel sound is also passed nicely via the HDMI port.I was also interested in Nvidia’s CUDA technology, where some apps can utilize the card’s graphics processor to speed things up, particular for processing video files. This seems to work quite well, increasing speed from about 7 frames/sec with non-CUDA enabled software up to over 30 frames/sec with CUDA-enabled software doing the same video processing tasks on a 2.13 GHz PC. While maxed out doing video processing, the card still stayed very cool. I don’t do games, so I don’t know how good the card is for gaming. The cons:You may need to be handy with a hacksaw because you most likely will have to modify your PC’s case or cable connectors to get the cables connected to two of the Zotac GT610’s ports. This is because the port connectors are not located properly on the card’s I/O mounting bracket. The upper DVI port (the one next to the L-part of the bracket) is too close to the L-part such that there isn’t enough clearance above this connector for a DVI cable or adapter to fit. This might be so for any ATX case that has its rear I/O panel recessed relative to the back of the PC case. You’ll have to either cut the PC case above the connector or remove the top retainer lug and screw from the DVI cable or adapter.Another con; the HDMI port (mini type C) is too close (a quarter-inch off-center) to the outer side of the card’s I/O bracket to allow an HDMI cable plug to reach the HDMI socket without having to either trim the plug’s insulation or cut to widen a portion of the PC’s metal slot so the plug can reach the port.Yet another con; why a Type-C mini-HDMI port? Only devices like video cameras use mini-HDMI fittings and there’re commonly for output, and this is also an output port. Most display devices and A/V gear use Type-A HDMI ports. So, this will cost you money and time to find and buy an HDMI A-2-C adapter or cable. What were they thinking? a nice video card for an HTPC seriously spoiled by poor connector type and placement choices. So five stars in that it meets my needs. Four stars due to the cons listed above.

So far so good.
By Jonathan
My old graphics card was starting to make excessive noise via its built in fan. So this time, I decided to go with a heat-sink instead of fan method of cooling and this fit the bill.I use this card to run a 3 monitor display (2 DVI off the card, one DVI off the MOBO). It works great. No glitches, though I'm typically only watching videos and doing lite MMORPG video games, nothing too intensive. For a desktop solution, this product is great.
