Doesn't work

This purchase was a replacement for the first one that didn't work either. According to the manual, after connecting the HDMI scaler to the VGA output of the device you want to have scaled (in my case, a Lenovo laptop computer), the external monitor should automatically see the converter and there should appear some options for fine tuning the display and actually viewing the content of the connected device. In both cases, the external monitor didn't see the HDMI scaler at all. I confirmed that the HDMI input of my monitor works and that the VGA port of my computer works - no issues there. I would give this zero stars but that's not an option.
