4Great Middle of the Road Card! Runs Cool and Quiet. No SLI
By SirStinky
I bought this for a budget gaming build. It was the 2nd most expensive part of the build at $174 (CPU was $12 more), but well worth it. I am an AMD faithful at heart, but the NVIDIA Kepler has more to offer dollar-to-dollar in terms of features and performance, which to me is enough to steer me clear of the Radeon cards (HD 7850), which cost the same. The GTX 650 Ti is a mid range graphics card. It has 2 GB GDDR5 RAM, 28 nm Kepler GPU that's been factory overclocked to 1033 MHz, 128 bit memory interface at 84 GB/s, 5400 MHz memory clock, and features 786 CUDA cores (or stream processors I think double the CUDA's on the regular 650). This is a PCI-e x16 revision 3.0, but is backwards compatible with revision 2.0 and 2.1 if you don't have a x 16 3.0 motherboard. Of course it's DirectX 11 ready, has NVIDIA's 3D Vision Surround, and something called Adaptive Vertical Sync, which is supposed to improve frame rates. For the outputs you get two dual-link DVI ports, although for the card itself, you are limited to 3 DVI monitors, so it functions like it has 1, single-link DVI, and 1, dual-link DVI), a full size HDMI port, and a VGA D-Sub port. Max resolution is 2560x1600. Pretty standard stuff and you could easily run three monitors with this if you aren't using it for gaming, and could run two if you are. The PCB is very blue with all solid capacitors and branded as Gigabyte's Ultra Durable 2 which has some neat features to extend the life and efficiency of the card. The great thing about it is the cooler. It's got Gigabyte's own Windforce 2x cooler, which has two 100 mm fans blowing through a huge aluminum heat sink that has two 6mm copper heat pipes running through the front and back of the heatsink. The fans are very quiet and keep the card pretty cool. They kind of blow air all over the place though. Some goes out the back and some off the sides, which didn't matter to me, but something to think about when you are planning airflow in your case. The heatsink actually extends about 4 inches from the back of the PCB, which makes the card about 9 inches long so it will fit into a mid tower. It would fit into a micro ATX tower, but would be a tight fit. It's a dual-slot card, so it uses 2 slots in the back of the case, which is pretty typical for a card like this.Gigabyte included a manual, a dual Molex to 6-pin PCI-e adapter, driver disk (outdated drivers, of course, go to Gigabyte or NVIDIA to get current ones) and not much else. Gigabyte does include their pretty nifty user interface for the card called OC Guru that lets you tweak some parameters like fan speed, core clock, memory clock, GPU and memory voltages, and temperatures. You'll need the 6 pin adapter if your power supply doesn't have one, and speaking of the power supply you will need at least a 500 watt to safely power this because according to Gigabyte, it draws about 170 watts at full load.Performance was pretty good for a $170 card. The bummer is that it doesn't have SLI and the memory interface is only 128 bit whereas the HD 7850 is 256 bit and has more stream processors. Kepler also can run 4 monitors, but the card itself will only run 3 in HD. It will play the most modern games in HD with very high settings (for games like Skyrim and Diablo 3) and maximum settings for less demanding games. Plan on around 30-50 FPS average depending on the game. The extra 1 GB RAM and factory over clock (I think the stock 650 Ti is 925 MHz) makes a difference, so it's worth paying extra for it. With the 2 fans it runs really cool and is very quiet. My case and CPU fans were noisier, and the air blowing over the motherboard wasn't a huge deal as I had no issues whatsoever with too much heat. Despite having only 128 bit and fewer stream processors than the 7850, the 650 Ti holds its own. It is tons faster than a 7770 and is only a little slower than the 560 Ti. For the record, the x 16 3.0 on this makes no difference whatsoever. It would only matter if you had something like a 7970 or 680. In fact it actually had trouble running in my ASRock H77 Pro4 motherboard's 3.0 slot, no video output, so I swapped it to the 2.1 and it run fine.Pros:Great valuePCI-e gen. 3 bus interfaceExcellent Windforce 2X coolerNVIDIA Kepler GPURuns very cool and quietOnly uses 1 PCI-e power plugFactory over clockGood performance for the moneyGigabyte qualityCons:No SLI128 bit interfaceWouldn't run in my x16 3.0 slotSo it's a great middle of the road card. It will do what you ask it to and do it pretty good. The fact that there's no SLI (that's a mystery) and it's only 128 bit, and support for only 3 monitors might be a deal-breaker for some, but hey, for $170, you get 2 GB DDR5, factory over clock and one of the better stock coolers out there. It's a great deal! Well worth it, and even worth checking if considering a 7850...

By jon lambert
I cant believe the graphic greatness this card can achieve! easy to OC (Im running about 20% higher than out of the box) and it doesnt get hot at all only about 43c on average) I play BF and SWTOR all at max GFX and hit an cosistant average of 55-60 fps without any issues. Would but another but whats the point if one does a great job

4Excellent video card
By H. Leandro
This is so far the best card I have bought. With this GeForce GTX 650 Ti I have been able to run games like Heroes of Might and Magic 5 and Tomb Raider Underworld with very high settings. They are quite old games I know, but I wasn't able to play the games with the same settings using my past video card, an ATI 5670.The card is really silent and so far has worked without a problem with my 450 Watts PSU
