The Masscool SATA/IDE adapter gives you the flexibility of connecting almost any type of drive to your computer via a PCI Express (x1) slot. The board provides up to 3.0Gb/s PCI Express (x1) interface on the host side, fully compliant Serial ATA II ports on the device side to access Serial ATA mobile storage devices and standard media such as Hard Disk drive, floppy disk drive, CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD, DVD-ROM, etc... 2 SATA port (two internal) and one IDE ATA-133 header (internal).

Ok, I was going to take a old HP I had laying around and make a Media center PC out of it. The thing was, the motherboard's onboard sata was blown. So, instead of spending 150 bucks on a motherboard, I bought this card. Well, I come to find out that this card is not supported in windows 7 or 8 due to the drivers not being signed. It sounds like a small issue, until you realize I was attempting to install an OS on this card, not just add it in to a pre-existing build. So, after rage quitting a few times, I went back to my old friend Linux, which picked the card up without any issues, and installed Ubuntu 12.10 on it. I'll install XBMC on it, once I get Ubuntu up and running. XBMC basically crashed during the install, so I said to heck with it, and used my linux boot disc. So, just a cautionary tale, until this card has SIGNED DRIVERS for windows 7 and 8, you might want to invest in a card that does. You can't argue over the price, and if you are using windows xp, it'll work great once you hit F6 during boot and install the provided drivers. If you are installing Windows 7 or 8, be prepared to throw the machine outside and back over it with your car before you set it on fire because it won't see your hard disc, due to the Windows Drivers not being signed. Also, just a note... no signed drivers exist, that I could readily find via google. It seems to be working fine in Linux, and hey, for 15 bucks, I am salvaging what would have ended up in the garbage, most likely being worshipped by Fraggles.

Uses a JMicron chip and the drivers are included. I bought a used main and after spending awhile trying to get the hdd and cdrom sata drives running as one, I just slipped this in. It solved my problem, still worked after more than a year, and performs solidly.
