5Fantastic Overclocker, probably overkill for 1080P
By LG
First off, this is NOT a 7870, it's a 7930 with a horrible name (based on same Tahiti die as the 7950 and 7970, check online reviews for details). When it comes to overclocking you're always rolling the dice as you never know what potential your specific item will have compared to the next guys but in my case I got super lucky. Whereas my previous 5870 would barely take a 50mhz bump this card is stable at 1270 (from 975 stock boost*) for over a 30% gain without changing voltage. With fan speed at around 40% it maintained temperatures from 62-64C during a stress test/burn-in. I am currently CPU limited but for comparison my 3DMark 11 score went from around 5400 at stock speeds to 7300 with the overclock (I conservatively took the ram from 1500 to 1575 as well). My 5870 score on the same system was around 4400. Some reviews have said that this card draws a lot of power, more than a 7950 at times, which is weird, but I did not notice any heat or power issues w/my Antec 750. If you're a gamer and/or into overclocking then power is probably not a concern.*A note about this boost feature. AMD has outsmarted themselves and poorly implemented a feature that is supposed to change the core speed on demand. From factory that would be from 925 to 975 during 3D workloads (at rest on the desktop it idles down to 500). In practice this just doesn't work at all. If you use CCC to overclock normally and set the core up to say 1100 what will happen is that the card will actually run at 925 during actual gaming. Ironically I noticed that the card would jump to my overclock setting when a 3DMark benchmark was loading but then drop down to 925 once it was actually running. This was evident based on monitoring tools as well as resulting scores. The fix is to create profiles in CCC which will put xml files in the user profile AppData area (e.g. c:\users\*username*\AppData\Local\ATI\ACE\Profiles\). Create one profile with default settings and name it Default. Create another profile with overclocked settings and call it something else, like "gaming". Find the "gaming" xml file in the profiles area and look for "want_0" and "want_1" keys. Near the top you'll find entries related to the core clock speed. Make "want_0" match "want_1" and save the file but beware the settings for voltage, ram, etc, do all this AT YOUR OWN RISK. **When selecting the profile you just made in CCC make sure to click the profile name TWICE. The result should be that the bottom value displayed on the CCC panel matches your "want_0" value. This will force your overclock speed during 3D workload which you will see the result of in monitoring tools as well as frame rates and benchmarks. In summary, this card is a steal, it's a 7900 series at a 7870 price point. Even at mild overclocks it matches or outpaces the more expensive 7950.

5Great card that brings the fight to the 7950 when overclocked.
By Christopher Motter
Ahh the Myst Edition Card.Things of Note:First off, this is NOT a Pitcairn based board, it is a Tahiti. Basically a chopped down 7950, physically partitioned off, you wont be flashing the BIOS to get 7950 power, sorry guys!2nd.) You can't use Radeon HD 78** series cards based on Pitcairn to Crossfire with this thing, though i have seen on various tech sites that the Myst Edition can be Crossfired with 7950's if you tweak it enough to avoid micro stuttering.Obviously, you can use 2 Myst edition cards to Crossfire.Box comes with instructions, the Card, and a mini display adapter cable. Free games are included via internet. This card replaced my venerable Nvidia GTX 460. Decided I wanted more power, and since I have a 700W PSU and was already using 2x 6 pin Molex cables to attach, I had no other hardware to mess with.DO be aware that this card is more power intensive than the 7870's from Pitcairn. Also, it's big, and may cause issues with cable management, etc... if you have a small or cramped case.On to the POWER!Windows experience numbers jumped from 7.3 to 7.9 upon installationFPS for WoT jumped 20% at 1080p with everything on MAXBasically, I got anywhere from 20-30% jumps in FPS in Dishonored, AC3 and FC3(I'm running a 2400k CPU w/ 300Mhz OC), so no bottleneck.)I overclocked using MSI application at 20% more power and went to 1200MHZ clock speed and 1600 mem speed.Stable!Noise is noticeable but not loud when using the Auto setting, temp maxed at 62 under load OCUsing 13.2 Catalyst DriversIn summary:The card is a big step up from the GTX 460 and seems to be quite happy being OC'd at the above mentioned rates.I can now turn on more graphics options and even use a little FXAA should i desire to, and still provides over 45 FPS minimum.Tom's does a good breakdown of the cards capabilities, I recommend you read it prior to making your decision. But honestly, at a 240$ price rate, this card is a no brainer, it contends with 660Ti and 7950 when OC'd for 50-70$ less.I recommend it to anyone on a budget or anyone who was thinking about buying a 7870 Pitcairn Card.Pros: Great value, good OC capabilityCons: A bit loud and at 10.5 inches long, it can be a tight fit in smaller casesI will update in a month or so should I have any issues.Update April 1st, 2013:Card continues to run very well, I had no issues with artifacts or crashes with my previous overclocked stats. However, due to crappy circulation in my tower, i backed off to 1175 in order to keep the card a little cooler. I was starting to hit 70 C after one of my "out" fans died.Again, this was due only to heat concerns due to an air flow issue attributed to my fan failure, NOT to any noticed issues with the card, though I believe that the single fan on the card is not exactly a stellar cooling solution.

4Excellent bang for your buck
By Andrew Seelig
Ill make this quick.. as you might know this video card uses the same chip that its bigger/faster counterpart uses (7950, 7970 cards) thus resulting in excellent overclocking performance which could stand to make this a 7950 itself. This card just looks bad-ass but it is BIG, however I was able to fit this in my Dell XPS8500 (replaced the 7770 that came with it, and yes it works with the standard dell power supply but it'd be wise to upgrade in my opinion).Overall I am pretty happy with this card, the speed/value ratio is incredible, Bioshock Infinite, Arkham City, Tomb Raider, Battlefield 3, Tera, and Far Cry 3 (no MSAA), all run silky smooth on MAX settings (All with slight overclock at 1920x1080).The only real con I can give is that it only has one fan which results in noticeable noise when it gets hot (and yeah this baby will get up there in temp) if not using a headset or you're running low volume.Key PC Stats: Windows 8, Intel i7 3770, 16gb DDR3, 256 SSD
