Great graphic card that you won't regret
By Dan InGold
Here is my computer setting: Dell XPS 8300 i5-2300 2.8GHZ, 6G RAM, 128GB SSD, Integrated graphics. I played Starcraft II a lot. The game is slow even if I use medium graphic settings (resolution:1600X900). Went through a few forums, I settled with this card. Here is what I find:Pros:1: It is very very quiet. my power supply is 460W. It is plenty for this card.2: The windows experience index score is now 7.8 (Integrated graphics 5.2)3: Starcraft II (utra high graphic settings): FPS is between 54-101. Average:75 (Using the integrated graphics, I only get 14-30.)4: It has two 6pin power connectors I don't need them as my power supply have them). It also comes with a VGA to DVI adaptor. This is really handy.5: Surprise and bonus: There is no description on Amazon site that this actually include a free game: DIRT3: .6: Great build quality7: 3D experience (I have not tested yet)Cons:1: This is large card. You want to make sure you motherboard has enough space for it.Tips:This can be personal experience. When I first installed the card, I noticed the fan noise immediately and it could not be recognized and my monitors showed no signals. So I plugged my monitors back to the integrated graphic card and installed the drivers. Then I plug my monitors to the graphic card and powered on the machine. Then fan noise was disappeared and it became very very quiet. I saw signals in the monitors. Windows 7 started to recognize the new cards and install the drivers for it. The resolution still did not look good. After a restart, my two monitors were recognized and was set to their maximum resolution automatically.Overall, I really love this card. This is great graphic card that you won't regret buying it.update (09/27/2011)The card is still rocking. It took me two weeks to finally get the AMD stream key to download DIRT3. The game has 11GB download size. I followed the instruction on the coupon code card. After filling out all the info, submitted, was asked to upload a scanned photo of the coupon for evaluation. Make sure you sign up their newsletter when submitting the code. otherwise you will receive no confirmation. I did not signed up in the beginning. No response after one week. I contacted them through web form. still no response. Then I re-did the process and signed up the news letter. I got response from them after two days. They said they are evaluating all the submission...Anyway, great card, bad service from AMD.Update (06/05/2012)Some people report that Dirt 3 are not included any more.

Best video card "bang for your buck"
By Phobos
Ownership-1 year+...This card was a winner right out of the starting gate. Installed, booted, installed driver, rebooted, and wow! This is my second Sapphire card, my first was an X850 pro I got in 2006 and is working today. That's speaking for Sapphire reliability. I have had other video cards die in much less time. Now this card, the HD 6870. There is hardly a bad thing to say. I dont get the super high fan sound that others have talked about. My temps idle around 100-110 F and hard gaming 135-150 F. I have been able to run Ubuntu 12.04 pretty good with it.Ubuntu 12.04 Working good... After first release of 12.04 there were some random crashes. Then a few weeks later using Ubuntu update it seems to AOK. Waiting for Steam on linux.Win7 AOK. [remembering the bad driver days]Win8 AOK Performance wise may be better than Win7I got this for 145 on sale in '11 and did get my rebate...6 months later in a debit card. That was lame... 6 months, but I got it.Anyway I can't say how much I like Sapphire. Competitive pricing excellent performance and I don't worry about it puking like my powercolor did after 2 years.I have done some benchmarking on this and here are the results following.Note: I do my benchmarks like i play my games, I leave everything on the pc. So I don't strip my other drivers and 150 programs off before a test.3dmark '03--------------------------72615 marks3dmark vantage combine score--------151013dmark vantage gpu------------------163323dmark vantage cpu------------------12317dirt3 bench total frames------------5525dirt3 bench average fps-------------55dirt3 bench minimum fps-------------44farcry2 average fps-----------------97farcry2 max fps---------------------145farcry2 min fps---------------------68uniginev2.0 fps---------------------40uniginev2.0 score-------------------1009uniginev2.0 min fps-----------------10uniginev2.0 max fps-----------------92aquamark score----------------------136000novabench graphics------------------494call of prypyat sunshafts-----------29,42,70crysis------------------------------Vista 64Beginning Run #1 on Map-island, Demo-benchmark_gpuDX10 1900x1200, AA=No AA, Vsync=Disabled, 64 bit test, WindowedDemo Loops=1, Time Of Day= 9Global Game Quality: VeryHighTimeDemo Play Started , (Total Frames: 2000, Recorded Time: 111.86s)!TimeDemo Run 0 Finished. Folks get the most expensive psu you can afford!I have a huge case so I can't comment on how tight it isn't in my case but it is about 10 inches long. The card looks great runs my games great I will buy my next card from Sapphire.Buy it. Its good.UPDATE: 12-5-2012Don't have any technical info, but I just got Far Cry 3 and its running very good and looks awesome on this card. I was worried it was getting too dated but not yet. I have a 23 inch Acer h233h and i could not be any more happy with how this runs the game. Using fraps I seem to be getting 30-40+ FPS with 1920x1080 high to ultra settings. Not all ultra yet. more later. i must also say that when it dips down under 30 fps it is momentary.Also...This game is more taxing than my other games so much that it kicks the fan speed up on high. This is loud. But in my opinion because of the power its graphics processing and its low price I feel that supersedes the downsides. it does run this game very well. I just thought I would throw that in there. >>PLEASE CLICK HELPFUL IF THIS WAS OF USE TO YOU.<<

Good card, Good price!!
By stingerdoc
Ok, let's begin with this, if you have to be at the top of the heap and have the best for your rig, this card is not for you. If you have a budget, common sense, and a big enough case, this card is a "must have".I bought this card about a year ago and it still gives back whatever I throw at it. There is enough growth potential that this card should be able to handle anything for the next couple years or so, with that being said, let's review the card itself. This is a pretty big card, I would definitely recommend a full size case for this one, and a mother board that is of decent size also. The air flow is not a problem for me as my rig has plenty of fans for heat (sounds like a B-29) lol, however the fans do not bother me.Games, porn, movies, all are good with this card, it displays blu-ray 1080 just fine without a hitch.Budget: My rule of thumb has been that a graphics card should be where to spend money. Motherboard and CPU is where you should spend the most and graphics should be #3 on the list. I try to stay in the $200.00 range, lower and you're buying yesterdays card that may have a hard time keeping up with todays programs, any higher and you're paying for bells and whistles you probably don't need. That justifies a good card at a good price that should last for years to come.Common sense: I recommend going to your local pc store and checking the size of this card, be sure it will fit your rig and that it will not obstruct any slots you may want to use. If you have no problems, get it.I would also like to say that after doing much homework on graphic cards, they are all getting bigger since so much importance is being put on them now.Big Case: This kind of carries over with common sense, if you're like me, I get a big case that is sturdy enough to stand the test of time. I could gut my case, put all new hardware in it and it would last another 10 years. It has great airflow, and that is the most important thing so as to keep components cool.ok, back to the card, from the info I have gathered from other reviews and personal use, I think this card is awesome.I play Bloodstone, COD, Star Trek Legends, and others without any problems. It even makes the older games that I play come alive.AMD 9850Saphire 68704 GB ramMSI AM2+ MBSoundblaster Audegy 2900 w power supplyCooler Master caseGood luck!!
