I spent several hours researching video cards. I was undecided between an nvidia 670 or this card. I chose this because of their dual fan and their thermal solution. I finally got my product and I just tested it playing several games, but I was mostly concerned with Skyri, Diablo III and the The Witcher 2. I can tell that I was able to max out my resolution for all 3 games, and only The witcher was the only game that tested this card to the limit because the fans started to kick in when I had graphic-intense details on the texture of the game. I highly recommend this card, although I noticed (as the other reviewer), that the card starts getting noisier when pushing it to the limit. I also found out that there is another BIOS driver for the card released late April '12 that optimizes the cards performance allowing you to have a quieter response for your fans.

Bought this card a little over a month ago, and it has surpassed all expectations I had for it. Instead of boring you with personal opinions, I'll just post my benchmarks, all of which are at 1920X1080pSkyrim on Ultra: 60-70 fpsStarcraft 2 on ultra: 120-130 fpsDayZ mod for Arma II on highest settings: 60 fps, drops to 45 fps around big towns (cherno & elektro), but not sure if issue with game or card.Dead Space 1 & 2 ultra: 60+ fpsFallout New Vegas ultra: 60-90 fpsBattlefield 3 Ultra: 60fpsI Overclocked the gpu for the first week, but decided against it when i realized how overkill the standard model already was. For those who do though, the catalyst control center is easy to use, and the card has lots of room for overclocking.The temp on max load runs around 70-75 degrees, but you can manually set the fan to cool it more if you would like. The fan is loud at over 60%, but I can't hear it with my headset on which is the only way I play games.Installation was easy, just had to press it into the pci slot and attach two six pin connectors. I do wish they had more regular HDMI slots though, two of them are mini HDMI ports so I had to buy chords for my second and third monitor.Overall, I couldn't recommend this card enough. At $309 w/rebate this card gave me what I wanted in a high end card for fairly cheap. It's a smidge behind a 580 in terms of performance and overclocked it surpasses it. I purchased this a few months ago to replace my old Xfire setup of 4890s let me tell you until I switched over to this card I didn't realize how far GPU technology has gone. This card handles most games effortlessly on the highest setting and this is on the default settings of 800mhz core clock. I haven't even OC too much since owning this card but I know this card has a lot of headroom for overclock. It stays decently cool with the higest temps I've seen this card run under full load was 61*C. On idle this card stays around 38-41*C.I'm glad I made the switch. I was even contemplating a Nvidia GTX 680 but that card was easily $200 more then this card with a little more performance and with some OC of the 7950 I can easily climb to the performance of a gtx 680. With the $200+ I saved purchasing this card I can easily save another hundred and purchase another ati 7950 and get one beastkt Xfire setup in the near future.Totally recommend this card for anybody who wants entry to the highest tier of currently GPUs but don't feel they need the extra shaders of the 7970. Plus you'll be saving almost $100+ by buying the7 950 instead.UPDATE: I felt a update was needed because the most important review is one given months after consistent use. So far the card is still performing like a beast and to this day I still haven't tap the full potential of it. Initially when I was new to OC GPUs I OC slightly but usually straying not far from stock limits. I was never able to OC higher without the GPU freezing up or producing artifacts. Well following OC guides for 7950's and seeing clock settings other owners were able to achieve I was able to achieve a staggering clock of 1150/1300Mhz! Of course this is at 1.21v and the temperatures are remarkably high hovering around 75'C~80'C and at this temperature the fans really start spinning past 50% which makes it unbearable for users sensitive to high decibels. I find most remarkable the card is able to OC that high if not higher with increase in voltage combined with efficient cooling (water-cooling).This card is a OC friendly 7950 backed by XFX renowned life-time warranty.(though this card is one of the selected few XFX cards with the lifetime warranty as XFX is beginning to phase this warranty in exchange for the more popular 2-3 year manufacturer warranty as it is less costly.)I've read XFX will not dismiss your warranty if you OC their cards though that is something i read on forums so I cannot be quoted on that. If true that means you can OC to your hearts content provided you practice common sense and when OC'ing.My main gripe about this card is the notorious noise the fans produce when exceeding 50% rpm. Anything higher is almost unbearable. Do not plan to use this card if running a silent PC is your goal. Does not bother me cause my PC is a media center and I usually play movies or play games on speakers so the noise of the card gets drowned out. For the more silent alternatives I'd check out Gigabyte/Sapphrie/MSI/HIS 7950s as those receive high marks from review sites. To be honest the XFX cooler I consider meek in cooling efficiency when compared to Sapphire or Gigabyte's aftermarket coolers. Though the XFX cooler does a decent job cooling the GPU under moderate load temps can rise significantly when raising voltage or running it at full load. At stock clocks 800/1250Mhz temps hover between 55'C~66'C but overclock it to 1000/1300 temps hover around 70'C+. I think I have decent airflow in my NZXT Phantom but the GPU still runs hot despite this. Temps are typically safe if not exceeding 80'C though for 7950's with really efficient coolers temps should not rise as high as 70'C.In summary a strong contender in this generation of GPUs from AMD. Backed by the best warranty for 7900's and is very flexible with OC'ing provided the user has clear expectations what the user wants to achieve. Only gripe is overbearing high noise from the fans and sub-par performance of the cooler compared to other vendors. In retrospect I'm glad I chose this card. It really is a hidden gem that is underestimated and I hope AMD continues to make GPUs like this even though majority of people will continue to support their competitor Nvidia because of brand name. All around great value GPU and the best serving of AMD products this product cycle.
