EVGA is one of the dominant brands selling nVidia-based video cards. It uses standard lay-outs that work well with nVidia software, e.g. nvProfile and nVidia Performance Monitor. It also has a good reputation for using quality components. I consider EVGA a top brand on the nVidia camp.The 275 is one of the results from the recent die shrink of the original 280/260. Its number of processing units puts it between 260 and 280 as the model number suggests. The final digit, 5, indicates that it is manufactured with a more advanced process, thus generates less heat. Right now, this chip sits at the price/performance sweet spot in nVidia's line-up. It is generally comparable to and may in fact slightly outperform AMD/ATI 4890, depending on the applications.EVGA receives a large number of nVidia's chip yield and bins them according to their overclocking potentials. The 1170 cards use the chips from the lowest bin and run at factory default clock speed. I personally consider these the best bargain, since overclocking generates additional heat and lessens the life of the product without much improvement in performance.Although 275 is among the most efficient chip in the 2xx series, this card is still extremely large. I had to move a hard drive out of its way. It takes up 2 slots and needs 2 6-pin power inputs. The fan is relatively noisy too. On the plus side, it has 2 dual-DVI outputs, enabling 2 30" displays. The sheer horsepower is also impressive. Most 3D applications can be run at 2560x1600 with important graphic features turned on. In short, it is fast enough for most power-users and cheap enough for the mass.

I've had this GPU installed for a few weeks now, and it is absolutely stunning.- I can max out any of my games: Batman AA, Dragon Age: Origins, Crysis: Warhead, World of Warcraft, etc...- A lot of people will reiterate how HUGE this card is, but I'll say it again. I use an Antec 900 case, and I had to relocate my hard drives this card was so huge!- One thing I will warn about, you need an adequate power supply for this thing. I was using a rocketfish 700w power supply and it was not enough for me! Of course I'm also using a Core2Extreme cpu and 3 hard drives, so plan accordingly.- For any Folders out there, this card produces approx 10k PPD in my setup.- Be sure to pick up the EVGA Precision utility from their website, which allows you to overclock the core, memory, shader, and turn up the fan speed if needed!- And lastly, make sure you register this product on EVGA's website, you will get a lifetime warranty!

I purchased this card to "freshen" my son 's Dell XPS 600 - this is 2005 vintage system with a Pentium D (early dual core architecture) and upgraded the 7000 series nvidia card inside. The card is large but fit well in the case. The system runs Windows XP and my son is very pleased with the improved performance - he tends to play games at 1200x1000 resolution and now can play world of warcraft and Crysis at maximum settings at very good frame rates where previously he had to play at "medium" level settings to get acceptable performance. We may get a wide format 1980x1020 monitor and we'll see how it does there. I suspect this card will carry him for another year or so before he'll want another pc - and this card will likely move over at that time.Peter
