My little sister wanted to play Sims 3 on her Dell Dimension desktop. Problem was that while all the specs checked out, the Dell didn't have an AGP or an express 16 slot for a decent video card. It only had an x1, so here we have the Zotac Ion. Specwise, it looks good. Half a gig of DDR3, decent clock speeds and worlds faster than the regular pci speeds thanks to pci express.Likely just my Dell, but upon sticking this in the machine, it went into windows got recognized as a sound card (one eyebrow went up) then crashed with a slew of parity errors and a message to call for help (eyebrow 2 went up). Turns out that the Dimension desktops among several other Dell pc's, reserve the x1 slot for everything other than video cards. So, when you jam a video card in there, it comes across as a sound card (doesn't help that this video card handles sound as well) and freaks out.I managed to search around, like the other user who reviewed this item, and found an insane solution. Wait for the windows logo to show up and after a few seconds, pull the card out and put it back in. This forces the computer to remove the "Auto set as sound card without actually checking" function and actually scan for hardware changes correctly. I had to switch the cable back to the on-board video after this, but I was able to get the card to show up correctly in the device manager and install the drivers. One boot later and everything was working properly, and Sims 3 was functioning.Sister happy, me happy and Dell shown to be the bad guy once again.With luck, the card wont be rejected like a bad liver.

Received card 2 days after order. Opened package, changed faceplate to fit in my HP DC5700 and installed flawlessly. Fired up puter with DVI cable attached and monitor popped right on. Ran through the BIOS to make sure the motherboard graphics were turned off, saved, restarted. Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit detected the card immediately and installed the newest updated drivers from NVIDIA. After making some tweaks to the graphic properties of the card I have had no issues whatsoever. I play Assassins Creed, Bioshock 1 & 2, Hellgate London, run Protools SE, and watch HD movies all with no problems or issues. The card is a SWEET buy for the money and very easy to install. I would recommend this card to anyone that has an older system and is looking for a good PCIx 1x graphic upgrade. If you can't install it yourself, talk to your kids or grandkids. They will have no issues... The installation instructions are kind of vague but if you have any type of hardware experience with computers, this should be easy for you...

I bought this card several weeks ago to upgrade my emachines el 1300g. The computer only had one pci express x1 slot. Seems to work very well with a 220w power supply, go figure. It's holding up to some demanding gaming. For the price zotac seems to be the new kid on the block.
