To be honest, there's not much differentiation between different manufacturers of a GPU. MSI, EVGA, Gigabyte, etc; people can argue about pros and cons about brands ad nauseum, but, at the end of the day, their products are almost basically the same. So why did I choose this one? Simple, the cooler.For those who don't know MSI's current cooler designs probably one of the best on the market. They are effectively, cooling the GPU while being almost inaudible, even at load. ASUS uses a similar design which cools the GPU itself quite well, but ASUS's design seems to ignore cooling the VRAM (video memory) chips, leading me to buy MSI's card.Just how quiet is this card? I have a total of three other fans in my system, one in a SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold ((SS-650KM Active PFC F3)) 650W ATX12V V2.3/EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply, which is a power supply whose fan rarely turns on, and two PWM controlled Scythe fans running under 600rpm. I can't hear these fans or those in this card while my system is at full load, running SETI@Home. That's just awesome.Most of you reading this review are probably also considering the 7870. I had previously bought a MSI AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB GDDR5 DVI/HDMI/2xMini DisplayPort PCI-Express Video Card R7870 HAWK because, honestly, the 7870 offers a slightly better value proposition, but I found the drivers to be lacking compared to NVidia's. On a clean install, the 7870's drivers (I tried 12.10, 13.1, and 13.2 beta) were giving artifacting all over the screen, and AMD's audio driver kept taking precedence over my sound card's, causing me to lose audio. Finally, the 7870 kept dropping out of openCL, so I return it and bought this 660Ti, which has been working without a hitch.

I ended up buying this card to try it out. I play a lot of BF3 and Diablo and star Craft and I have no issues with anything on the highest setting ie ultra. Bf 3 I get 50 to 60 fps. You can get better cards but you have to spend at least 200 more.

After spending many hours trouble shooting this video card, I determined that I received a defective one. The card kept getting a driver stopped responding error just on the windows 7 desktop. The screen would go black and windows would say that the driver stopped working and was recovered. I tried the card in 2 different computers including a brand new build with a fresh copy of Windows 7. I also tried 3 different versions of the driver including the first and latest WHQL drivers and the drivers on the supplied CD. My PC:I7 920Asus P6T Motherboard12 gig memoryCosair Tx 750 power supplyMSI GTX 260 (to be replaced by MSI 660TI)I am in the process of RMA the defective card. I will update my review when the new card arrives. Amazon's customer service has been great.
