My first impression of the card quickly changed from the time I took it out of the box to when I installed it in my custom-built computer. After discovering it came DOA (dead on arrival) by troubleshooting with Galaxy's Tech Support, I sent it back to Amazon to begin the RMA process.They never sent me another card because they were out of stock, and I had to buy another one at a more expensive price that what I originally paid (EVGA GeForce GTX 580. However, after a relatively short call with Amazon's customer service, I was given a $10 discount to make up for the price difference, as well as one-day shipping at a reduced price to compensate for lost time.All of my parts were bought brand new and worked just fine--except for the card. It seems well-built and since it's a GTX 580 it will give you all the power you'll need to do gaming or photo/video editing. However, make sure to install the card in your computer and test it out within 30 days. This is not a typical result, but it could happen to you when you least expect it--that goes for any computer part.My new card works just fine and is giving me the performance I should and would have gotten out of my Galaxy. almost one month in use - still cool and silent.I'm happy to maximize graphic setting everywhere.I use 1900x1200 monitor and games and programs runsmooth and fast.

I received the gtx 580 in a very timely manner, however when I installed everything and powered on I noticed a brief whine coming from the card. It only lasts a few seconds. It is hard to determine if it is coil whine or the fans (I'm leaning toward the latter) but for the money you pay for the card it should not have any problems new out of the box. I also experienced crashes playing ASC: Brotherhood (4 times in one night), and in BF3. I also received a BSOD one time but that is most likely because I turned AA up too high in BF3.This may be due to bottleneck that I have on my system since I'm running a Q6600, but I cannot know for sure. I tried to contact Galaxy tech support, but have not heard back, but it has only been a day so I can't ding them yet on CS. So to be safe on my investment, I am returning it to Amazon (awesome return policy BTW)to try another one and see if it makes the same sound. If it does then I will know it is my system and I will adjust my review and rating accordingly. For now though, it will stay 3 stars.PROS:- After the whine, it runs really quiet- Keeps really cool 28c idle, 44c under load (no OC)- Looks really coolCONS- Not really a con, but this thing seems like it is over a foot long! It BARELY fits in my HAF 932 case without having to remove a drive bay- the card will cover your SATA drive, but I think that is more the MoBo's design flaw- Crashes too much for my liking- Fan/Coil whineUPDATE:I received my replacement card and it makes the same sound. I am chalking this up to fan noise as it does not persist more than a few seconds after power on. Upon further investigation, I determined my crashes were due to my bottle neck and NOT the card. It still impresses me how cool it runs. The fans do not vent out the back but rather blows into the case and vents out the back. I own a HAF 932 full tower case and this has not been a problem at all for my temps. Therefore I am going to give it 4 STARS, knocking one off for the noise it makes.
