WOW. right out of the box.. i bumped up the voltage all the way up to the 7970 spec.. and right away i was doing 1050 Core and 1450 Mem (stock 7950 does 800/1250), thats' a whopping 31% faster without any effort. i gotta say.... i feel spoiled running BF3 in Ultra with 4XAA in 2550X1440 res (average 45fps). only caveat... the reference cooler does a terrible job at cooping with the overclock. at stock speed, it does alright around 65c in BF3, but at 1050/1450, it jumps up to low 80's. the good news is... the VRM stays relatively cool, even at overclocked speed... in BF3 it only hovers around 85c. which is pretty amazing consider there's no heatsink what so ever covering the Vram, or the VRM chips. one warning tho... if you run this reference card overclocked in Furmark... you can see up to upper 90c for core and up to 100c on the VRM. i plan on upgrading the cooler to the Zalman VF3000 when they release a compatible heatink for the 7900 series.. i really can't wait.the fan noise can be loud, but i like the sound of a jet plane, makes my rig sound like a beast. i use headphones to game.. so doesn't matter. be sure to setup custom fan profile if you do overclock it. and watch out for the VRM temp as you overclock.... those things tend to be overlooked by most people, but they can fry your card if they get too hot. definitely should invest in an after market cooler when more options become available. i am glad i returned my P O S D i a m o n d 6950 and waited a couple weeks for this awesome 7950. :D

This card works like a champ. I've had this card for about 6 months now and still no issues. The screen not fitting my monitor at first during the initial setup but I found the settings in the software that is included. Full 1080p baby!

I was very eager to get this card, and when it got to my house today I couldn't wait to tear into the box. I upgraded from a XFX Radeon HD 5770. I completely uninstalled my catalyst control center, and everything associated with it. Then, I installed a fresh install of catalyst control center. I have not overclocked this card at all. The first thing I noticed, my 5770 ran about 35c idle, and ran to about 45c while playing games. This card, however, idles around 37-40c, and during a game gets to around 47c. The card stays quiet, which gave it one star.I decided to test this on a few games. The first game I tried was Grand Theft Auto IV. There were immediate problems. The game kept saying I was close to exceeding the memory usage of the video card, even though I was NOWHERE close to it at all (282MB out of 3096MB). Also, the game would not let me change from a 800x600 resolution because it thought that I was exceeding the memory usage. I found a way past this little problem with some google help. Once I changed the resolution, the game stopped saying I was close to exceeding the memory usage. I maxed everything out, and began playing. I noticed NO DIFFERENCE from my 5770. Not one single difference. Then the game became night time, and there were flickering shadows all over the place in the game, something that didn't happen at all with my 5770. This isn't looking good so far and making me severely regret my purchase.The second game I tested was Skyrim. Again, my 5770 ran this game just fine. I instantly wanted to completely max out the settings in this game, and upon doing so, the game was SO INCREDIBLY STUTTERY. I must've been getting like 5FPS. It was severely unplayable on absolute max settings. I had to completely turn of AA and AF, and at this point, the game looks and performed exactly as it did with the 5770.So by now you may be asking, "If this card is performing so badly, why 3 stars??". Well, I am blaming the issues right now on crappy drivers. This is my only saving grace hope that I did not just completely blow $450 bucks. I will keep this updated if anything changes, and hopefully for their sake and for my rage's sake, it better change.***UPDATE***After messing around with the options of the card in catalyst control center and doing everything I could just shy of re-installing Windows, I finally decided to just set everything back to factory default. Well, now I am getting like 2000 fps in GTA IV and Skyrim stays at a constant 60 fps. I also tried Saint's Row the Third, and that was getting between 65-75 fps. All of this is with every setting completely maxed out in the game. This card is a beast, just as long as you keep the settings as default in catalyst control center.
