5Nice balance of price and performance
By DesertCat
The Gigabyte GTX 660 OC was a nice upgrade for my system and really fit the performance level I need at a pretty good price point. I was actually surprised at how much of an upgrade this was over my old GTX 295. The GTX 295 was a top of the line "SLI on a single card" solution in early 2009 but it pales next to this little GTX 660. At 1650x1080 in Guild Wars 2 (and using the auto detect routine in the game) I was only getting around 22-23 fps with the GTX 295. That was with many of the graphics quality settings in the moderate/medium category. With the GTX 660 OC the autodetect routine in GW2 bumps up virtually all of the settings (textures, visual range, etc.) to their highest values and I'm getting around 50 fps. That a pretty nice bump for moving from a 3 year old "top of the line" card to a current "mid grade" card. It's also going to lower my power bill as the old GTX 295 had a TDP of 289W. The GTX 660 has a TDP of 140W. I could actually add a second one to my system (using SLI) and still use less power than my old GPU.The Gigabyte cooling solution for this card is whisper quiet and also cools things very well. After an extended gaming session, I find the card temps get up to around 55°C and fall back to about 40°C within a minute of exiting the game. The two fan design doesn't directly vent any of the GPU heat outside of your case, so adequate case ventilation is needed. People working in smaller, cramped cases may want to opt for a different brand that uses a blower-style cooler, but that type of cooling also tends to be louder. As documented by testing at HardOCP, the GTX 660 line of cards is limited in overclocking potential due to some design choices that Nvidia made with this chip (in particular the 140W TDP acts as a "governor" for higher overclocks). That will be true no matter which brand you buy. In addition, the overclocking "cap" that people can achieve and that yields the best performance will largely be the same no matter which GTX 660 you buy. Well... with this model Gigabyte gives you a factory overclocked version that is just barely under what HardOCP found to be their best overclock for consistent performance. In other words, Gigabyte gives you a GTX 660 that is near the upper end of what anyone can achieve with this architecture and they offer it at the cost of a reference clocked version (the OC versions of other brands will cost you more).I give it a thumbs up for people that want a solid GPU upgrade for today's current games but at a price that won't break the bank. After my experience with the GTX 295 (which was a fine card for its day), I think it makes more sense to buy a mid-grade graphics card and maybe upgrade a little sooner than drop the big cash for today's most powerful GPU "flamethrower". The architecture changes over a 2-3 year time frame will make today's $400-500 cards pale next to that generation's $200-250 cards.Edit: At the time I write this, the Amazon description says that you need to have two 6-pin PCI-e power connectors available. That is incorrect and may be the result of some "cut and paste" from the specs of a GTX 660 TI. The Gigabyte GTX 660 OC only has a single 6-pin power connector. The GTX 660 TI models, however, do need two 6-pin power connectors. Such info may be important to someone who is trying to find a GPU that is a good match for their power supply.

5Gigabyte All The Way!
By SweetPotato
This is a review for the Newegg product (May differ from the Amazon product).I scoured the Internet for hours looking for the right graphics card to play BF3 among other games. The graphics card I was looking for needed to be very high-end to warrant replacing my awesome little HD 7750. A particular tool I found to be helpful was anandtech(dot)com/bench/GPU12/372. It compares GPUs results in MANY tests they performed. They also post SLI/CrossFire results for some cards. The GTX 660 and the GTX 660Ti performed very similarly, definitely not enough to warrant another $70. The 660 also has INSANE SLI scaling. Two 660s in SLI perform better than one 680 that costs about $40 more in the end. The GTX 670 is possibly the worst video card from Nvidia. It is VERY comparable to an overclocked 660Ti with a non-reference cooler, but it costs $100 more. A GTX 650 is too low-end for my needs and doesn't even beat my 7750. I knew I had to get the 660. Oh yeah, I was looking at an HD 7850, but at the last moment the price jumped from $185 to $215.Now that I knew I wanted a GTX 660, I needed to figure out which manufacturer to purchase from. I hate Gigabyte motherboards and I proudly show off my awesome MSI motherboard to everyone. I wanted an MSI Power Edition or Twin Frozer III GTX 660. I found one for the exact same price as this Gigabyte. Even though I hate Gigabyte's motherboards, I love their Windforce coolers on graphics cards. My 7750 could be turned up to 100% speed and all you heard was the whooshing of air. The fan bearing must be pretty good to hear no noise from the fan spinning. Gigabyte fans are also larger (About 90mm) and that means they move more air than smaller fans (Like on MSI's) and at a lower noise level. MSI's TWIII fans are supposedly "Impeller blade fans", but to me they just look tiny and noisy, much like a really old 8400GS I had once that just couldn't keep quiet. The blue and black Gigabyte color scheme also matches my MSI mobo very well :P If you haven't tried either brand's custom graphics cards cooler, I'd recommend using MSI's just to try it out because I hear it works very well. I decided to do the tried and true Gigabyte Windforce skew. It works well enough anyway and I got fairly high overclocks. I'm not going to share them with you because every GPU and memory module is different and can sustain higher overclocks. I don't want anyone to damage their GPU because they saw someone else achieve those results. Sometimes you can only get 10-20MHz, and sometimes you can get hundreds of MHz.

5Great card and silent
By CountChoculitis
After exclusively buying EVGA Graphics Cards (last one was a GTX 580) I finally jumped ship after a bad customer experience with them and boy am I glad I did. Having a non reference cooler makes a world of difference in sound and cooling. This card if left on default settings never went over 60 C and was still silent doing so. I manually set the fan speed with MSI afterburner to stay at the default 40% until it hits 60 C which is very rarely even at that low of a fan speed. That is my only gripe about this card is that the lowest fan speed of 40% is a little high since at idle my GPU runs cooler than my Hard Drive and is actually the loudest fan in my quiet system even though it is not loud at all. Overclocking wise I was able to push +70 core and I just stuck at +100 on the memory even though it would go higher. Been running strong ever since. I dont think I could ever go back to a reference cooler again. Now my only problem is do I get another one for SLI or jump up to the Gigabyte GTX 680 Windforce since I bought this when I was on a tighter budget.....Performance wise paired with a i7 3770k at 4.4ghz and 16gb of ram I get great framerates in any game I have thrown at it. Since it does have a 192 bit memory bus once you up the AA it can struggle a little but gaming at 1080p I rarely set AA over 4x MSAA so it has not been a problem for me. I have yet to try Crysis 3 but according to benchmarks and once driver optimizations are live I should be able to run that on very high with no aa and still maintain over 40 fps.
