The contacts on the built-in RealTek ethernet card on my Toshiba Satellite got damaged. For while I was stuck connecting to my home router only using wireless. As I was troubleshooting, I noticed I had an ExpressCard port. I took a look on Amazon and found this product. For the proce, it seemed like a good option, as opposed to sending the laptop out for repair.Turns out to have been a wise choice. It installed quickly and without problems, and works like a charm. FYI, if you're running Vista 32 bit, don't bother with trying to update the driver from the mini CD that comes with the card. If you've installed the latest service pack, just let Vista do it's thing. Then use Device Manager to make sure you have the most up-to-date drivers

I bought this because of the great price...$21 for an Gigabit Expresscard adapter? Nice. Until I actually tried to use it.I first tried letting Windows 7 recognize the device and add drivers. Got the chipset right, but drivers caused a complete lock-up within a few minutes. Tried the CD drivers, BSOD'd. Computer would not boot with the device in (well, it booted, but would freeze loading windows). Went out to I/O Crest website and Syba website...neither offers up-to-date drivers...or ANY drivers for download (at least for this device). At one point I got it working and got online, but wouldn't find my network server or any of the other computers. Shortly after that, laptop locked up again.Also, this thing got HOT. I'd pull it out (to get my laptop to boot) and it would be almost too hot to hold. May have something to do with the lock-ups, but nothing I can do about it.In summary, don't waste your money...go for a better brand. I've had Syba stuff that works fine, but this is not one of them. They don't even list it on their site unless you search for it, so makes me wonder if it's been EOL'd anyway to be replaced by one that works. RMA'd to Amazon.

Tested with Windows 7 32-bit and Ubuntu 10.04 with little to no success. Ubuntu found and created eth1 for it but couldn't get any IO from it at all. Windows 7 started crashing after a few hours of use and the card itself was very very hot.
