I purchased this video card to extend the life of a legacy system. The motherboard is an Intel D865GBF with an Intel 3.00 GHz Pentium 4 CPU. I needed to upgrade from the on-board video chipset to be able to upgrade from Ubuntu 11.04 to Ubuntu 11.10. I did my due diligence and checked out the specs and features of all the AGP 8X boards I could identify. This board specced out best, including a cooling fan, necessary for the chassis geometry. This was not the cheapest nVidia 6200 board I found, but its overall specs and physical configuration looked to meet my needs perfectly. BTW, I needed the nVidia chipset; Ubuntu GNU/Linux has significantly better built-in support for nVidia over ATI.The board arrived promptly, but there was one hitch. The lo-o-o-ong title on the Amazon item description page DID say "Low Profile" in the fine print at the end of the title, but the image provided was a generic card, with a standard profile bracket (I have notified Amazon, with links to the proper parts.). I ordered based on the image, not the text, and received a low profile version of the card, according to the labeling on the box. Before breaking the box seals ("Void if seal is broken"), jeopardizing my return options, I contacted Jaton tech support through their web site to determine if a standard profile bracket was available. Kudos to Jaton for responding within a few hours with assurance that the replacement part could be ordered online.Confident that I could correct the physical problem of installation, I broke the seals, opened the box, and inspected my new toy. To my pleasure, the package labeling was misleading. The actual board was fitted with a standard bracket, with a pair of low profile brackets supplied for fitting to a low profile chassis. :)Installation was painless. I reconfigured the BIOS to use the AGP card as the primary video device. The Ubuntu OS booted up with no problems. The Jaton 3DForce Xe card Just Worked! A five-minute operation to download and install the specialized nVidia drivers (built-in feature of Ubuntu) and a quick reboot has me installing Ubuntu GNU/Linux 11.10.I highly recommend this board for anyone trying to keep a legacy system up and running.

I have a 9 year old Dell Optiplex GX260 and needed to replace the original GeForce 5200 card that had a bad fan. AGP is an older video card slot format no longer used in newer computers. Replacement cards are relatively expensive at $60+. This card was designed to work with Windows XP, but it is compatible with Windows 7.Windows 7 loaded the proper driver and the card worked flawlessly. The 512 MB video ram is considerably more than the 128 MB card it replaced and performance proved it. Not much more to add than it works well.

Nvidia Geforce 6200 AGP8X 512MB DDR2 VGA Dvi-i Tv Low ProfileThis upgrade might be helpful to people who have an older DELL 4600 Dimension PC.This card worked very well and brings new life to a machine that might otherwise been headed to the recycle center.The DELL is used for fairly basic stuff like MS Word, Quicken, MS Excel, Internet searching, email, etc. I don't do gaming so extreme speed is not a concern.I previously bought MS Win 7 operating system that could be loaded on 2 PC's and the upgrade from Vista to Win7 64 bit on my HP Quad Core PC was easier than upgrading the DELL from XP to Win 7. However, MS provides good information on how to successfully upgrade XP to Win 7.On the DELL, as part of the upgrade to Win 7_ 32 Bit, a Win 7 video card and driver is required. This card replaces the original, built into motherboard, video controller (AGP8X).Hardware installation went smoothly and I downloaded the Win 7 32 Bit driver directly from Jaton's website. No problems.My only gripe, and a small one, is the Jaton 6200 AGP card has a fan that is a bit noisy; but not to the point that it is unacceptable. The photo on Amazon shows a board with a heat sink that uses convection cooling rather than a fan.Notes-If you register a new video card with Jaton, you get a 2 year warranty instead of 1 year.My DELL PC already had 4Gb RAM (Crucial.com) from previous years upgrading. For my use, I believe it is important to have 4Gb for the DELL to run at an acceptable speed (booting up and processing.)In Conclusion- It is important to note in my case and over time, I already made incremental upgrades and felt it worthwhile to add the video card.If I had to outright purchase Win 7, new RAM, and a new video card, the DELL would have definitely be in the recycle bin.Hope this is helpful.
